Why do I need a co-signer?

A co-signer acts as a secondary point of contact for Housing Hand and is jointly liable for repaying Housing Hand if you default on your rent.  

If you miss a rent payment, we will contact you and your co-signer to arrange a repayment plan. If we are unable to reach a resolution, your co-signer will be responsible for covering the outstanding payments. This also applies if the terms of the agreement are broken.  

For joint and several tenancy agreements, both you and your co-signer may be required to repay Housing Hand for any housemate's unpaid rent that Housing Hand has covered on your behalf.
