How long do you guarantee a tenant for?

Housing Hand guarantees tenants for up to 12 months at a time. If they wish to renew, they must update their details so we can process a renewal application. 

• Student tenants are typically guaranteed for 12 months. 
• Working professionals are typically covered for 6 to 12 months, depending on their tenancy length. 

Payment Structure 

• Tenants can pay the full guarantor fee upfront for a slightly discounted fee.  
• If a tenant chooses to pay in instalments, we set up subscriptions for either 6 or 12 monthly payments. 
• For tenancies under 6 months, tenants must make 6 monthly payments. 
• For tenancies between 6 and 12 months, tenants are charged 12 monthly payments, regardless of the exact tenancy length. 

Before the end of the tenancy, we contact landlords to confirm whether the tenant will be staying. 

• If the tenant renews, we update their guarantor agreement. 
• If they do not renew, we will no longer provide coverage.
