How do I get a UK guarantor?

One of the biggest challenges tenants face when renting in the UK is securing a guarantor. Many landlords and letting agents require one, and without a UK guarantor, you may be asked to pay 6 to 12 months’ rent upfront to secure your property. In some cases, even if you pay in advance, a guarantor may still be required.

If you’re a student or a working professional, whether you live or work in the UK or plan on moving here, Housing Hand can stand as your UK guarantor.

How it works:

  • Simply apply online, using our step-by-step application process. It only takes a few minutes, and there is guidance at every stage.
  • Once we have received your application and your onboarding fee, we will reach out to your accommodation provider. (Don’t worry if you don’t have everything you need when you start the application, we will nudge you along the way). There may be a little bit of back and forth at this point, depending on how responsive your accommodation provider is. But don’t worry, we do all the heavy lifting for you and will reach out if we need anything.
  • Fees start at £36 per month and are based on your rental amount. You also have the option to pay the fee upfront or spread this over 6 or 12 months.
  • Once approved, we provide your accommodation provider with the required guarantor assurance.

For international tenants, most UK landlords and letting agents require a UK-based guarantor. If you cannot provide one, you may be asked to pay up to a year’s rent upfront. Housing Hand removes this barrier, making it easier for you to secure a rental property.
